Helena Stockar
Helena’s oil canvases evolved over time from illustrative depictions of her youth in the Czech Republic and snapshots of her dramatic escape to the West, into bold, colorful, timeless artworks that often depict inner emotions and deeper struggles common to all. Helena was well aware that art can connect with her audience at many levels and leveraged her skills to achieve this layering, not just in her technique and use of color, but also in the story that each oil holds – a story to be uniquely interpreted by you, the observer. There is great passion in Helena’s oils. There is tension and solace, anger and peace, love and fear. It is all there, masterfully crafted for each of us to love, to hate, to desire or to ignore. You see, Helena broke the mold by painting emotions and the human conditions that fuel and quell them.
