Helena Stockar
Originally exhibited in the Flanagan Gallery, Community College of RI, Lincoln, RI October 4th - 23rd, 2004.
For two years (2002-2004), Melena Stockar composed a series of 21 abstract paintings that encapsulated her life experience to that time. In each painting she addressed, in narrative – epic – style, her understanding of the basic forces that formed her life as well as the lives of others – the journey of life. This series was Helena Stockar’s ‘finale’, her attempt to express the forces that hold civilization together as abstract, yet harmonious, way.
As always, Helena Stockar’s colors are vivid, her brush strokes certain and the composition mature. Like a person losing her sight but not her vision, the details of faces and figures are softened and indistinct.
